I have wondered if it would be easier for others to understand my conditions if they could actually "see" them. Since I don't look sick, it can be hard to understand that, beneath the surface, I have chronic pain, syringomyelia, syringobulbia, Chiari malformation zero, fibromyalgia, arthritis, asthma, kyphosis, degenerative cervical osteoarthritis, and hypothyroidism. This blog was created to "put a face" on these conditions. To help people cope and find support.

Putting some Spring into Your Step!
Well, it's official...we have made it to the first day of spring! I don't know about you, but old man winter will not be missed at my house. My body does not react well to the cold, it doesn't like to be too hot either but it is easier to manage the summer. I pray the same is true for all of you :)
What do you like to do when it's warm outside? Are you able to get outdoors and enjoy the sunshine, get some much needed vitamin D? I love to sit outside with my best buddy, Bentley, and write or read, whatever I am in the mood to do...it's just nice to take whatever I would normally do in the house, outside. It really makes me feel refreshed, allows my mind to open up to new ideas that seemed closed off from being in the house all winter, and makes me feel antsy to get out and 'do' things...so sometimes, it's not a great feeling. It can be a reminder of a life that I am no longer able to maintain. I have to be stronger than than my mind on those days. Reminding myself that I was able to live that life at that time and create some great memories, and now, I am living a different life, to create different memories. However, it's not always as easily done as it is said. We all do the best we can and, honestly, what more can anyone ask of us?
Speaking of being outdoors! For many of us with illness and chronic pain, being on our feet for any length of time can be challenging, rather it be because of our feet, legs, back, neck... Chronic pain sufferers have so many reasons that connect to one thing not working right for them that it makes things difficult to find products that work, or that make life at least more comfortable. So, anytime I find something that makes me happy, I buy it in multiples and tell everyone...So, I have found my perfect tennis shoe and I couldn't wait to share it with you! I have been wearing them for a couple of weeks to make sure that I would really love them and could tell you, without a doubt, how wonderful they make my feet feel. If you follow me on Instagram, you've seen them, but now it's time to show and tell!
Here they are!! Both are by Skechers. I have never owned Skechers before but the tennis shoes that were in my closet (both are name brand) were very heavy on my feet and felt hot and I couldn't even leave them on long enough to walk through the grocery store. I had been seeing these shoes advertised on TV and thought that it wouldn't hurt to try them, so I got online and ordered them. These shoes are both light as air, they breathe, they are extremely comfortable, I wear them all day at home without discomfort, they have plenty of room for toe wiggles, they are low on the ankles, well cushioned with memory foam that isn't too soft or hard-it really is just right, they form to your foot, and they are affordable at around $50-ish per pair. I ordered mine from ShoeCarnival.com and they have online coupons also if you shop through eBates.com you may be able to find a better deal and you will get a portion of your purchase back!! But if it feels like you are walking on hot stones all the time and your feet and back hurt (I've pulled the tendons in the bottom of my left foot, and dislocated my left heel so my feet don't like very many shoes) I highly recommend trying a pair of Skechers. If you're not happy, you can return them...just don't wear them outside :)
Like I have mentioned in previous posts, I am making changes to broaden the topics of my blog. I am focusing more on chronic pain than only the conditions that I have. That is the reason for the polls on the right side of my page, I want to know more about my readers so I am able to write about things that will be helpful to everyone. So, if you wouldn't mind, take a moment and look over the 2 questions I have listed, it would be very helpful. I am doing this because of the amazing people in my Instagram support group. The battles we fight are different but we have many similarities and that's how we are able to connect, for that, I am grateful. I dedicate this blog to those who open their eyes every morning to a new day with the same battle. Our paths may be unknown...but our strength and courage cannot be contained. I hope that others can see the halo's you wear.
I wish you plenty...love, understanding, support, spoons, and dreams come true!
